Our Story!

J&M Gourmet Mushrooms is a family owned and operated farm in Selah, WA with a simple goal in mind; to provide the Pacific Northwest with organic homegrown mushrooms of various varieties from around the world, and to have fun while doing it. We began in 2010 when a hobby sprung into a passion after receiving schooling provided by Fungi Perfecti in Olympia, WA who is a household name among mushroom enthusiasts. We recycle local goods and salvage building materials from local construction jobs whenever possible and take pride in that aspect of our business. Such recycled goods used in our cultivation are discarded espresso grounds from Lincoln Avenue Espresso, USA and Canadian made cardboard from various local businesses that has been discarded after delivery and organic grain from HAAS as well as Yakima Craft Brewing Co. here in town after they have used it for their brewing. We enjoy turning other's "trash" into our treasure.

The shiitake has a medium-sized, umbrella-shaped, tan to brown cap. The edges of the cap roll inwards. The underside and stem are white. You will find many variations when you shop for this mushroom.
